Settei setsSettei/Models are drawn by thea Charactercharacter Designerdesigner and define what a character should look like. Everyone involved in production (primary animators, "in-betweeners", directors, etc.) will reference settei/models to make sureensure that all the moving parts in animation the in-betweeners, animators, and directors all keep the characters lookinglook uniform, uniform. or as animators will say on model.  When someone is talking about how somethe animation is off modelconsistent, this is whatoften theyreferred areto talkingas about;being the"on model."  Conversely, when someone says that a portion of animation is "off model", it means that it does not match what the character designer intended.
